Roofing Contractor in Gilberts, IL

Gilberts began as Gilberts Station on the Galena & Chicago Union railroad in 1852, named for the pioneer Amasa Gilbert, and incorporated in 1890. For most of its history it was a very small village; nearly all of the housing you see today went up in the last 30 years.

The Newest Roofs We Work On

Gilberts has about 3,029 housing units with a median year built of 2005 — the newest of any town we serve. 59.3% was built between 1990 and 2009 and another 23.9% since 2010. Three quarters is single-family detached and a quarter is single-family attached. (Source: CMAP Community Data Snapshot, ACS 2020–2024.)

A village this new does not need many full replacements yet, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What Gilberts roofs do need is the things that fail first on 15-to-25-year-old builder-grade roofs: cracked pipe boots, failed pipe collars, lifted or missing ridge caps, storm-damaged shingles, valley wear, and ice-dam damage at eaves where the original ice-and-water coverage was minimal.

Those are repairs, not replacements, and we would rather do the repair properly and see you again in ten years than sell you a roof you do not need. The oldest Gilberts subdivisions — the late-1990s work — are the ones now genuinely approaching replacement.

Recent Storms Over Gilberts

June 10, 2026 — derecho. A personal weather station in Gilberts recorded a measured 63 mph gust at 3:15 PM. The wider system brought 80–85 mph winds across Kane, DeKalb and DuPage counties and was one of two derechos to cross the area in 2026.

On newer roofs, a 63 mph gust most often shows up as lifted or missing ridge caps and a broken seal on the first two courses at the rake edge. It is a cheap repair caught early and an expensive one caught after it has let water into the decking.

Gilberts Roofing Questions

My Gilberts house is only 18 years old. Why would I need roof work?
Usually you need a repair, not a roof. The components that fail first on builder-grade roofs are pipe boots, collars and ridge caps, typically at 12–20 years, along with storm damage. We would rather fix those properly than sell you a replacement you do not need.
Is it worth having my roof inspected after the June 2026 derecho?
Yes. A weather station in Gilberts measured a 63 mph gust on June 10 2026. On newer roofs that typically lifts ridge caps and breaks the seal on rake-edge courses — cheap to fix now, expensive once water gets into the decking. The estimate is free.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Gilberts?
Roofing work in Gilberts is permitted through the village's Community Development Division. We confirm the current requirement for your address and handle the permit and inspection.
